With a B.S. in Chemical Engineering (1980) from the University of Lowell, Lowell, MA and an M.S. in Chemical Engineering (1983) from the University of California, Berkeley, CA, Rick worked at Intel Corporation as a process engineer and engineering manager for sixteen years. Although he enjoyed engineering work on the cutting edge of technology, Rick’s passion was always finance and investing. Fortunately, he followed his own financial advice – allowing Rick and his wife Sandy to retire from Intel in 1998 and “live the dream” in the great outdoors of Bozeman, Montana.

After 4 years of outdoor fun, travel, and coursework at Montana State University in Bozeman, MT (for enjoyment of continued learning rather than a degree program), Rick accepted a part-time position at Holmes & Turner, CPA (H&T) in Bozeman in pursuit of the optimum work-life balance. At the close of 2002, he agreed to work full-time with the opportunity to be a financial manager/registered investment adviser for Cascade Financial, while still preparing tax returns, business valuations and business plans, and providing general consulting services at H&T.

In 2011, after 10 ‘tax seasons’, Rick left H&T to focus exclusively on his passion of providing comprehensive financial services and helping valued clients achieve their financial goals. Yes! He finally struck the ideal work-life balance with Cascade while working from a home office (dba Peace of Mind Financial, LLC) in Bozeman.

Rick accepts new clients with a minimum of $500,000 of assets under management, but only where there is an ideal fit, which includes a chance for him to make a significant difference for any new client. Accordingly, Rick welcomes your call or email to explore how he may also help YOU to achieve your financial goals, obtain peace of mind, and make work optional.

Hobbies When not involved in “high finance” or otherwise waging war on Wall Street, Rick enjoys golf, hiking/exploring, biking, x-c skiing, bowling, bridge, reading, fine dining (ok, pretty much any dining), and romantic moonlit strolls on the beach (i.e. too old/damaged for gymnastics or soccer).
